Our Eagle Scouts

David Lundell
Hi, my name is David Lundell, and I thank all of you for being here.
My older brother joined Cub Scouts in first grade, and both my parents were the Den Chiefs, which is how I got involved with Scouting. I went on all the camping trips my brother went on, and I enjoyed them. Then, I joined Cub Scouts in first grade. I enjoyed everything about Cub Scouts, like the Pinewood Derby, or making box sleds and racing against other friends in the den.
Bridging into Boy Scouts was super fun, and I loved Boy Scouts right away. My favorite part about scouting was still the trips, backpacking, winter camping, Denail High Adventure and such. The trip that really got me into backpacking was Kesugi Ridge. I loved backpacking and I still enjoy it.
There are so many highlights in my scouting career, the two biggest highlights were backpacking in Philmont, and the other is backpacking the Chilkoot Trail. Both trails were absolutely amazing.
Crossing the border into Canada was pretty amazing. Also the landscape of Canada looked so sculptic. But before the border you had to climb the Golden Stairs, that part of the trip was so cool. On the other hand, climbing up 12,441 feet was also pretty crazy.
Philmont was definitely something else. Every day at noon, pouring rain would hit us, except for that last few days. Climbing Mount Baldy was one of many highlights of that adventure.
There are so many accomplishments that I have earned while being in Boy Scouts, but the biggest accomplishment is earning my Eagle Scout rank. I will miss going to the meetings, I will miss selling popcorn, although I rarely sold any. Being a Boy Scout means a lot, learning from merit badges and earning merit badges that will help you in lots of different situations, getting to meet new people, and make new friends, learning about the outdoors and spending time in the wilderness. That is what the Boy Scouts means to me.
For my eagle project, I made a garden bed for the elementary school I attended Chugach Elementary School. I used landscaping blocks for the bed. I’m sure the Garden Club will appreciate the extra space for planting and growing. I really appreciate the lots of great help from my fellow scouts, they all worked hard, and we all got the project done.
As my scouting days come to a close I would like to take the time to thank everyone that has supported me in my Scouting Career, I would like to thank my parents especially for always nagging me to finish up another merit badge so I can be step closer to eagle scout and I would like to give my mentor pin to Mr. Ohms for helping me through my project and everything he has done for me. I’d like to also thank everyone who has been involved in my scout career. Thank you.
