Eagle Scouts Projects
Improving our community

Eagle Scout Project - Picnic Tables
Cynan Hellmann
For his Eagle Scout Project, Cynan offered to build a couple of picnic tables for summer classes at the Anchorage Museum of Science and nature. In the fall of 2018, he made plans, raised funds, assembled a team, and constructed the tables. The project demonstrated leadership and organizational skills.

Eagle Scout Project - Landscaped Garden
David Lundell
For his Eagle Scout Project, David built a large landscaped garden bed for the Chugach Optional Elementary Garden Club. He chose this project because Chugach was his old elementary school.

Eagle Scout Project - Directional Signs
Zack Curtis
For his Eagle Scout Project, Zach built and placed directional signs on the campus of his church, Chapel By The Sea, in South Anchorage.

Eagle Scout Project - Potato Beds
Wyatt Barrett
For his Eagle Scout Project, Wyatt replaced and rebuilt ten of the potato beds at Huffman Elementary. The potato beds are a legacy tradition where, each spring, students plant potatoes that are harvested by the next class and donated to Bean’s Café.

Eagle Scout Project - Newer, More Efficient, Lighting
Dylan Myren
For his Eagle Scout Project, Dylan restored and re-wired the fluorescent lights in the Amazing Grace Lutheran Church with LED lights. He is very proud that this will not only repay the church for sponsoring Troop 26, but will save about $5,000 per year in electrical bills.

Eagle Scout Project - GaGa Pit
Carl Doehl
For his Eagle Scout Project, Carl built a portable gaga pit for Camp Fire Alaska’s summer day camp at Alaska Pacific University (Camp Si La Meo). Carl learned to play GaGa at Camp K, a sleepaway camp run by Camp Fire and went to Camp Fire’s after school program during elementary school. Gaga Ball is a fun variation of dodgeball.

Eagle Scout Project - Trail Improvements
Tag Wayt
For his project, Tag worked on the running trail at South Anchorage High School. Volunteers cleared and widened trails, made new ones, and laid down over twenty tons of gravel, all by hand. Over five days of work, volunteers put in a total of two hundred and forty five hours. Tag chose this project because he greatly enjoyed cross country running in high school, and wanted to give back to the team for future years.

Eagle Scout Project - Longer Running Trails
Seth Chamberlain
For Seth's Eagle Scout Project, he expanded South High's running trail to make it the full three kilometers. It involved creating a completely new kilometer of trail, and renovating the rest of the trail to make it runnable.

Eagle Scout Project - Changing Shed
Grayson Shaw
For Grayson's Eagle Scout Project, he set up a changing shed for referees on the football/soccer field at South Anchorage High School. They bought the model shed from Home Depot due to supplier shortages, transported the shed from Home Depot to South, and then made repairs and painted.

Eagle Scout Project - Fire Pit
Ben Fischer
For Ben's Eagle Scout Project, he constructed a fire pit outside of a local church. He flattened the dirt, packed it down, and piled up the stones. He also added in finishing touches to make it look great.
